Dr. Ramzi Salti recently delivered a musical lecture at MLC Amman in which he contrasted old Arabic classics (songs + poems) with new, revived versions by a selection of indie singers who have managed to recreate and establish new genres within contemporary Arabic music.

Titled "Arabic Music: Then and Now," the bilingual talk included excerpts by Fairuz, Hiba Masouri, Ahmad Kaabour, Omar Kamal, Dalida, Jadal, Abdel Halim Hafez, Omar Offendum, Souad Massi, Tania Saleh, Jawdat Haydar, May Nasr and others. This talk was by special invitation by the Modern Language Center in Amman, Jordan and took place on July 27, 2024. You can watch video excerpts below or here.
